Carlos R. Cobián is an accomplished serial entrepreneur recognized for developing successful businesses in Latin America. In 1995, when he was 21 years old and performing as a club Dj, he co-founded Empire Entertainment, Puerto Rico’s first youth and experiential marketing agency. Between 1995 and 2006 this company became the leading experiential marketing agency in the Island and managed leading brands such as Coors Light, Bacardi, Toyota, Pepsi and Hilton Hotels among many others. Empire disrupted the traditional advertising agency business by promoting new performance based business models, propelling new ways of marketing to youth and promoting entrepreneurship among Puerto Rico’s youth, resulting in the creation of a new wave of creative promotions and production shops.
After a career of almost 20 years he has owned restaurants, bars, discotheques, a marketing agency and a mobile technology company called Wireless Idea. This company was a pioneer in the use of the mobile devices as a marketing tool for brands. It also helped content providers monetize their content via mobile devices across 17 countries in Latin America. He also founded Cobian Media, a company that produces special events and digital marketing to companies who want to expand and grow. He is the founder of the H3 Tech Conference and serves as board member for The San Juan Tech Meet Up and Centro para Emprendedores. He is also a mentor of the Founders Institute of Silicon Valley.
